Does Trump Support Project 2025?
A secret recording released recently revealed that Russell Vought, a key figure in Project 2025, claimed that former President Trump has "blessed" and supports the project despite Trump publicly disavowing it. Project 2025, a comprehensive policy blueprint led by the Heritage Foundation, has been criticized for its radical proposals, including a major overhaul of the federal government and controversial social policies. Trump has publicly dismissed the project and distanced himself from it, while his campaign has criticized it as unrelated to his own policies. The recording and subsequent reports show ongoing connections between Trump, his associates, and Project 2025, even as public statements deny such ties.
Because this story has many different angles to discuss, I will share some biblical insights in bullet points.
1.) It is not news that administrations have multiple think tanks, policy institutes, or foundations working closely with them to evaluate potential agendas or strategies to help them accomplish their legislative and policy goals. Wise leaders consult others (Proverbs 15:22) and listen carefully to all viable solutions before action (Proverbs 18:17).
2.) It is not news that enemies use deception and misrepresentation to gain an advantage. Our greatest enemy has used these tactics from the beginning (2 Corinthians 11:14).
3.) It should not be news that people who believe that a nation's success and prosperity are found in the ethics, morality, Truth, and principles laid out in God's word would advocate for policies consistent with God's Word (Psalm 1).
4.) The remnant is charged with seeking "the welfare of the city where the Lord has sent them into exile" (Jeremiah 29:7a) and advocating for policies and societal order based on the right application of the Word of God. It is the surest path to a nation's welfare (Proverbs 14:34).
5.) It is not nearly as scandalous to see organizations using deception to "expose" someone as it is to see people who profess Christ fail to advocate for and expose others to the "salt and light" found in the Truth of God's Word (Matthew 5:13-16).
6.) While we can be thankful we don't live in a nation that tells us what we must believe, our nation will continue to move toward trouble until it believes "righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Proverbs 14:34).
7.) The remnant's job is not to impose their beliefs on others but to propose a better way (1 Timothy 4:5). We "propose" through righteous living (1 Peter 3:15-16) and sharing the Truth in love (Romans 10:14). We are not "imposing" when we vote with biblical convictions and then govern accordingly (Psalm 78:72).
Numerous other truths could be enumerated for Remnant News readers in this story, but our nation will be most served if our readers take time to stop and prayerfully consider how they can apply the seven listed above.
"Now gird up your loins and arise, and speak to them all which I command you. Do not be dismayed before them, or I will dismay you before them.," (Jeremiah 1:17) "..and pray to the Lord on their behalf, for in your nation's welfare you will have welfare" (Jeremiah 29:7b).

Mpox Public Health Emergency
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the ongoing monkeypox (mpox) outbreak in Africa a global health emergency. Mpox is an infectious disease closely related to but much less severe than smallpox. This decision follows the spread of a deadlier strain, clade Ib, to four new African countries, previously limited to the Democratic Republic of Congo. WHO's emergency committee advised Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus on the outbreak's severity, which led to the highest level of international health alarms. The outbreak, with over 17,000 cases and 500 deaths in 13 countries, is classified as a "very high risk" event by the Africa CDC.
The church's theology is healthiest when we fully embrace the entire Bible, from Genesis to Revelation. Each bookend informs our understanding of the other and everything in between (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The Word of God grounds and comforts us in times of uncertainty and fear (Psalm 23:4).
The Fall has broken far more than we know. From all five of our senses to the ground beneath us, to the relationship between the Creator and us, sin has marred everything and everyone (Romans 5:12, Romans 8:19-20). This is evident in matters of health as well.
Thankfully, our theology doesn't stop at Genesis 3. It extends to the promised reality of the New Heavens and New Earth (Revelation 21:1). We have the privilege of praising the One who "brings death and makes alive; He brings down to the grave and raises up" (1 Samuel 2:6), and of longing for the day when "there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" (Revelation 21:4).
No matter how "high risk" a disease is, there's only one ultimate security we can depend on in sickness and in health (Proverbs 18:10). May we all be able to say, like King David, "Because the Lord is at my right hand, I will not be shaken" (Psalm 16:8).

Ukraine Advances in Russia
Ukraine's incursion into Russia's Kursk region marks a bold, risky military strategy aimed at exposing weaknesses in Russia's defenses. Ukrainian forces have taken significant ground, controlling 1,000 square kilometers and capturing hundreds of Russian prisoners, though their overall goal remains unclear—whether to hold territory or retreat. The operation challenges Russia's military advantage but stretches Ukraine's resources and front line at a time of limited manpower. Politically, it has shifted the narrative, demonstrating Ukraine's resolve and possibly providing leverage in future negotiations despite uncertain strategic gains.
The war in Ukraine/Russia has dragged on for nearly 2.5 years, most often making headlines for billion-dollar aid packages and advancements in cities and regions we don't recognize the name of. What we cannot afford to forget is that men, women, and children make up these cities and regions, some of them our Christian brothers and sisters (78% of the Ukrainian population and 71% of the Russian population, according to a 2016 Pew Research Center survey). We are called to remember them as if we were among them in their suffering (Hebrews 13:3). While the war contains political nuances and international interests, it, most importantly, daily impacts the individuals who endure war's hells. While wicked or unwise men rule, people suffer (Proverbs 29:2). May God see fit to show mercy through the quick onset of peace, whether through military victory, diplomacy, or, most desirably, Jesus' return (Revelation 21:3-4).
