CPS & Montana Family, Involuntary Manslaughter (2021 MI School Shooting), Kenyan Cults

Montana Family Tragedy

In Montana, a family has lost custody of their 14-year-old daughter after refusing to allow her to transition to a boy.

Child Protective Services intervened following the girl's suicide attempt related to her gender identity struggles and, without the family's understanding and full consent, transferred her to a Wyoming facility where gender-affirming care is provided to minors. The family offered counseling for their daughter after the attempt instead of supporting her transition, prompting authorities to remove the girl from the family's custody.

The family, devastated by the decision, spoke out against the entire process, stating that the loss of custody was a violation of their rights.

It is almost impossible to believe that our society has so completely abandoned natural and spiritual law to the extent that this story could possibly happen in our country (Judges 19:22-26). Yet here we are, with magistrates doing what is right in their own eyes (Judges 21:25) despite pleas from parents to do what is right in God’s eyes (Proverbs 22:6). When a father and a mother who are seeking to love and serve their daughter by counseling her with Biblical truth are called “abusive” and “unloving,” we are not living in a post-Christian country, we are living in a lost one, and lost cultures should not expect to last long (Jeremiah 28:16).

Cultural progressives have captured the minds of medical and mental health “professionals,” and now are destroying parental rights and the institution of the family. Rebellion and depravity always spread (1 Corinthians 5:6) more rapidly than we expect and reap more destruction than we thought possible (Proverbs 24:33-34). Paul’s letter to the Romans perfectly describes our condition; “…as they did not see fit to acknowledge God any longer, God gave them over to a depraved mind, to do those things which are not proper, being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malice; they are gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, disobedient to parents, without understanding, untrustworthy, unloving, unmerciful; and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, they not only do the same, but also give hearty approval to those who practice them” (Romans 1:28-32).

The remnant must never grow weary in advocating for truth and faithfully warning the wayward that those who give hearty approval to sin will soon find themselves receiving a hearty helping of wrath (Proverbs 17:11). Stop and pray for our country, for the mother and father as they fight for their daughter, and for this young girl to break free from the lies that are holding her, and the wicked that are encouraging her, to consider permanently destroying her young body in the midst of her mental illness (2 Corinthians 4:3-4).

Mother Convicted of Involuntary Manslaughter in School Shooting

Jennifer Crumbley, the mother of the Oxford, Michigan, school shooter, was convicted of four counts of involuntary manslaughter related to the 2021 tragedy. After approximately 11 hours of deliberation, the jury found her accountable for her son's actions, which led to the deaths of four students and injuries to several others. Each count carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison, to be served concurrently. Crumbley's sentencing is scheduled for April 9, while her husband is set to stand trial on similar charges in March. The shooter, their son, was sentenced to life in prison in December of 2023. The trial highlighted evidence of parental negligence, including the parents' failure to address warning signs and secure the gun her son used.

Winston Churchill once quipped, “It has been said that democracy is the worst form of Government except all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.” This too can be said of America’s current justice system. While imperfect, we should be thankful to live in a country that prioritizes justice and avoids the totalitarian approach seen in countries across the world (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

The Bible may not offer a straightforward answer on how the jury should have voted or what she should have been charged with, but it does provide clear wisdom that Mrs. Crumbley, Mr. Crumbley, and their son could have benefited from prior to the 2021 tragedy.

God’s Word reminds us all:

  • We are not responsible for others’ sins (Ezekiel 18:20), but we are responsible for whether we add to or remove stumbling blocks in others’ walks (Romans 14:13).

  • Every individual is responsible for resisting the devil and rejecting every kind of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22, James 4:7).

  • If there are signs of a neighbor in distress, the most loving action would be to remove obstacles of destruction from their path and surround them with love, correction, and guidance (James 5:19-20, Galatians 6:2, 1 Thessalonians 5:14).

  • Parents have the responsibility to train up their children in righteousness, show them the way of Christ, and safeguard them from the predations of the world (Proverbs 22:6, Proverbs 29:17).

  • For every life taken, there must be punishment and justice administered, this is the state’s duty (Genesis 9:6, Romans 13:4).

  • Christ’s complete work on the cross is enough to cover the sins of His people. Through faith in Jesus, our sins are impugned to the Son of God. No matter how heinous those sins are (1 John 1:7, Romans 4:7-8).

May this verdict be a reminder to parents across our nation to not only be responsible gun owners but, more importantly, safeguard their children from evil and destruction.

Kenyan Cult Murder

In a shocking case that has rocked Kenya, cult leader Paul Nthenge Mackenzie and 29 others have been charged with the murder of 191 children.

Mackenzie, a taxi driver who reinvented himself as a pastor several years ago, urged his followers to congregate in the Shakahola Forest as a sanctuary from what he claimed was the fast-approaching apocalypse. As he preached that the world was ending, officials say many of his followers starved themselves to death.

Since last April, hundreds of bodies have been uncovered from the 800-acre forest where Mr. Mackenzie and his followers lived, with dozens of others being rescued. According to authorities, hundreds more remain missing.

The Lord does not take kindly to false teachers (2 Peter 2:1-3), and He warns us to evaluate those who teach us (Acts 17:11).

One clue you are dealing with a false teacher is that you find them overly confident in the timing of the Lord's return.

"And Jesus answered and said to them, "See to it that no one misleads you" (Matthew 24:4).

"Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming (Matthew 24:42).

"But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone (Matthew 24:36).

Paul rightly reminded his friends in Ephesus to "Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood. I know that after my departure, savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock, and from among your own selves, men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them. Therefore, be on the alert, remembering that night and day for a period of three years, I did not cease to admonish each one with tears. And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified (Acts 20:28-32).

The job of the remnant is to learn to "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth" (2 Timothy 2:15) and to "solemnly charge others in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry (2 Timothy 4:1-5).

"Take pains with these things; be absorbed in them so that your progress will be evident to all. Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things, for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you" (1 Timothy 4:15-16).
