Miss Netherlands, Musk releases xAI, and Inflation
Quote of the day:
"The greatest trouble with most of us is that our 'worship' has become so 'secularized' that we come into the presence of God, and we do not realize that we are doing so."

Today’s Headlines
Biological Male wins Miss Netherlands
Rikkie Valerie Kollé, a 22-year-old biological male, made history by winning the Miss Netherlands 2023 beauty pageant. Rikkie will represent the Netherlands at the upcoming Miss Universe competition in El Salvador. Last year, Solange Dekker, another biological male placed second in the Miss Netherlands competition. Solange subsequently became the first Dutch Miss International Queen 2023, an annual pageant specifically for transgender women, held last month.
Angela Ponce, a biological man from Spain, made history in 2018 as the first openly transgender contestant to compete in the Miss Universe pageant. It is worth noting that Anne Jakrajutatip, the owner of the parent company of Miss Universe is a biological male who identifies as trans woman as well.

The Remnant’s Response:
Gender dysphoria is a mental illness that deserves compassion and treatment, not celebration. This story, along with the fact that it is reported with such normalcy and without the masses dismissing it as parody, illustrates the widespread foolishness in our world. G.K. Chesterton observed, "It is the final sign of imbecility in a people that it calls cats dogs and describes the sun as the moon—and is very particular about the preciseness of these pseudonyms. To be wrong, and to be carefully wrong, that is the definition of decadence."
Our world is carefully and dogmatically wrong in its embrace of gender fluidity. Professing to be wise, we have become fools (Romans 1:22). A loving world would not exploit Mr. Kollé's sickness; instead, it would compassionately seek to help him (Proverbs 24:10-11). A sane world would not give "hearty approval" to delusional beliefs, but would be broken-hearted in light of them (Luke 19:41). It is the job of the remnant to continue to speak, no matter how much the 'elites' of our day seek to silence us (Luke 19:39). We are the "living stones" who, in faithfulness, must continue to cry out (1 Peter 2:5; Luke 19:40). Stop and pray for those suffering from gender dysphoria. Don't stop speaking the Truth in love.
Musk Releases xAI
Billionaire, Elon Musk, co-founder and former board member of OpenAI, is once again making headlines by announcing on twitter the formation of xAI, his alternative to ChatGPT. Concerned about the rapid progress of AI, Musk resigned from OpenAI in 2018 and called for regulatory measures.
With xAI, Musk aims to address these concerns by assembling a talented team of experts from Google, Microsoft, Tesla and the University of Toronto. His vision revolves around creating an AI system that fosters maximal curiosity and genuine understanding of the universe's true nature. In doing that, he believes it will foster an AI that is pro-human.

The Remnant’s Response:
Technology will never improve the Truth the Lord has already given us (Psalm 19:7-11). While ChatGPT, xAI, or any other forthcoming artificial intelligence may assist us with various tasks, we already possess something that has been "tested" and proven as the perfect refuge for humans seeking protection from "bad information" (Proverbs 30:5).
So, while it may be beneficial to learn the right "productivity producing prompts," when it comes to finding guidance and direction in life, there is only one prompt you need: Open your Bible, read it, and be careful to do according to all that is written within it (Joshua 1:8).
While Elon may astonish us with numerous innovations and technological achievements, if you desire intelligence that is truly 'pro-human' and a genuine understanding of the universe's true nature, we implore you to seek the words of a man wiser than even Mr. Musk. "Do not add to God's words, or He will reprove you, and you will be proved a liar" (Proverbs 30:6).

Inflation Report
Inflation has cooled to its slowest pace in over two years, coming after last summer's four-decade high. Overall consumer prices this past month rose by 3% compared to one year ago, sharply contrasting with the peak of 9.1% inflation in June 2022. Here is another source with good data.
Although a cooling in inflation is good news, not all inflation is equal. Rent and housing costs continue to drive inflation. Austen Allred, Co-founder and CEO of bloomtech, noted that first-time home buyers will struggle with the current economic reality due to rising housing costs and steadily increasing mortgage rates.
While central bankers are approaching the slowdown cautiously, officials at the Federal Reserve see it as a positive sign that America might achieve a "soft landing" and avoid a recession, according to the NYTimes.

The Remnant’s Response:
A healthy economy creates opportunities for everyone to provide for themselves and their families, as the Lord intended, something for which we can all be thankful. Advocating for economic policies and measures that promote human flourishing is a right and good thing, and we should pray for discerning and wise leaders to govern over us (Genesis 41:33). Regardless of the economic conditions surrounding us, we have a responsibility to be mindful of those individuals and families who may be disproportionately affected by negative circumstances or policies, and strive to support our neighbors in the best way possible through both spiritual means and material assistance (1 John 3:17, Proverbs 28:27), without enabling a life of sloth (2 Thessalonians 3:10).
The Lord is the one who gives us the ability to create wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18), and He is the one in whom we can trust to provide for us even in challenging circumstances (Matthew 6:26). A strong economy brings about numerous positive outcomes for individuals, businesses, and society as a whole, including improved living standards, increased employment, greater national security, and reduced poverty rates, among other benefits.
