Gypsy Rose, God Made Trump, Encouragement From GenZ

January 8, 2024

"Jesus Christ stands as the one true Savior of mankind, the anchor of our souls, and the source of eternal hope. In Him alone, we find redemption, forgiveness, and the way to eternal life."
Charles Spurgeon

Gypsy Rose To Instant Fame

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has recently re-gained notoriety due to her involvement in her mother's murder, Dee Dee Blanchard, in 2015. Dee Dee's years-long manipulation, which included falsely portraying Gypsy as terminally ill, led to a national fascination with the case. After serving most of her 10-year sentence, Gypsy was released in December 2023 and embarked on a press tour to promote her documentary series, "The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard." Her story had previously been featured in various TV shows during her incarceration, contributing to her growing online presence. Gypsy's unique and harrowing experience has drawn considerable attention, making her a prominent figure in discussions about abuse and its aftermath.

What Gypsy Rose Blanchard endured was an injustice. The Bible vehemently condemns the mistreatment of children, emphasizing the severity of such transgressions (Matthew 18:6). Scripture reassures us that God is a high priest who understands our weaknesses and shares our sorrows (Hebrews 4:15). Moreover, God assures us that nothing escapes His notice. "For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether good or evil" (Ecclesiastes 12:14).

While the Lord promises justice (Ecclesiastes 3:17), Scripture also warns us against seeking vengeance on our own (Hebrews 10:30). While active self-defense is not problematic, murder is (Exodus 20:13). The Hebrew term for "murder" infers the intentional and premeditated killing of another person with malicious intent. Gypsy Rose Blanchard did pay for her crimes. She publicly emphasized remorse and her desire to help others choose a different path toward justice, saying in a recent interview, "I did something wrong and paid my dues for it." We know that in Christ, there is forgiveness. "I will be merciful toward their iniquities and remember their sins no more" (Hebrews 8:12). As we grapple with the complexities of justice and mercy, let us pray for justice for those impacted by the evil of abuse and pray that Gypsy Rose Blanchard finds true freedom through the transformative power of Christ, even while the remnant is careful to model the forgiveness and grace to others that we ourselves have received (Ephesians 4:32).

God Made Trump

The phrase "God made a farmer" became well-known due to a Dodge Ram truck commercial that aired during the 2013 Super Bowl. The commercial featured narration by Paul Harvey, a radio broadcaster, delivering a tribute to American farmers, with the line "And on the eighth day, God made a farmer."

Over the weekend, the Trump campaign redid this commercial, replacing the commentary about the farmer with commentary about Trump. Reportedly, this was done by a fan, "DilleyMemeTeam," and shared by Trump on Truth Social. You can watch the video above.

  1. God did make Trump (Proverbs 22:2; Genesis 1:26).

  2. Trump is not responsible for or able to control what videos “fans” of him produce. He is responsible for what he, or those who work for him, post on his social channels. If silence in the midst of sin is a form of condoning (and it is), then celebrating something by reposting it is an even greater error. It is a form of “hearty approval” (Romans 1:32).

  3. Some of the voiceover content used in this video is, at best, unwise and lacking in awareness; at worst, it shows inexcusable hubris and self-love.

  4. God has been known to make men who think they are a gift to the world eat grass like the animals of the world (Daniel 4:24-33).

  5. Promoting a video that proclaims that you are a “man who cares for the flock, a shepherd to mankind who will never leave or forsake them” strongly suggests you need to be shepherded by men who care for you enough to say your sense of what is right and good has forsaken you.

  6. “Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD. Assuredly, he will not be unpunished” (Proverbs 16:5).

  7. We all make mistakes. Those who are humble acknowledge and address them (James 4:6).

  8. Reposting a video with self-exalting allusions, something Trump has done is not as egregious as representing a platform that advocates for the murder of children in the womb, the mutilation of children out of the womb, or the redefining of the marital unit, which is a source of blessing to children, which is not something Trump is doing. There is a difference between errors of judgment and evil intent.

  9. Paul Harvey’s ‘God Made a Farmer,’ from which this unfortunate Trump video received its inspiration, is worth watching. It will make you thankful for farmers and possibly make you wish you were one. Biblically speaking, you should be like a “hard-working farmer” so you can be sure to receive your reward (2 Timothy 2:6).

Encouragement From GenZ

Over 80,000 Gen Zers gathered in Atlanta, St. Louis, and Louisville to worship this past week. The Passion Conference, founded by Louis Giglio, drew 50,000+ attendees to Atlanta. Rooted in the confession of Isaiah 26:8, Passion exists to glorify God by uniting students in worship, prayer, and justice for spiritual awakening in this generation. Speakers challenged the notion that there were multiple paths to salvation, emphasizing that you must trust in Jesus. Simultaneously, in St. Louis, over 20,000 Catholics convened for SEEK 24. Archbishop Rozanski highlighted the joy of faith, calling for a revival amidst societal challenges. At the Cross Conference, which hosted 11,000 global students in Louisville, messages centered around international missions and spreading the gospel were front and center.

Scripture tells us not to underestimate the spiritual potential of anyone due to age (1 Timothy 4:12). In the midst of the constant barrage of stories and narratives about the decline of faith in the West, particularly among young people, events like the Passion Conference, SEEK 24, and the Cross Conference provide us a powerful counter-narrative. All three of these gatherings aim to glorify God by uniting young believers in worship, prayer, evangelism, and justice for spiritual awakening.

It is encouraging to see thousands in our country who gather not to bow to the cultural idols of our day but to listen to others and encourage them to consider things of God. (Isaiah 1:18John 14:6)

Join The Remnant team as we pray that the seeds of truth proclaimed in these gatherings bear great fruit in this generation. (Isaiah 40:8) We believe God can do exceedingly more than we can imagine (Ephesians 3:20) if we humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways. (2 Chronicles 7:14). May the remnant grow in faithfulness and number.
