RFK Jr. Receives Secret Service Detail
President Joe Biden ordered Secret Service protection for Robert F. Kennedy Jr. following an assassination attempt on Donald Trump. Kennedy has drawn large crowds and faced multiple security threats, including a recent armed man incident and trespassing at his home. Previously denied Secret Service protection, RFK Jr. had been forced to rely on private security. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced the protection directive, citing heightened threats to both Biden and Trump. Kennedy expressed gratitude to Biden and his security firm.
In the spirit of "giving thanks in all circumstances," we ought to be grateful to live in a country where political adversaries are granted protection, even if it took a terrifying wake-up call like what we experienced this past weekend (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
In this age, we are promised trouble, yet we should be quick to remember the Lord's promises (John 16:33, 1 Chronicles 16:12). Ultimately, where does our help come from? Our help comes from the Lord (Psalm 121:1-2). Where do we find ultimate security? Our lives—and eternal destinies—are secure in the pierced hands of Christ, secured through His atoning work on the cross (Romans 8:1).
As we navigate heightened political tensions, let us lean on God's assurance, pray for our leaders, and seek His wisdom. Let's pray for the protection and guidance of leaders like Trump, Biden, and RFK Jr. so that they may experience God's transformative power (Ephesians 1:18). We need more righteous rulers in our land (Proverbs 29:2).

JD Vance Tapped to be Trump’s VP
Ohio Senator and best-selling author JD Vance has been chosen as the running mate for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump for the 2024 election. Should Trump win the presidency, Vance's selection would result in his Senate seat becoming vacant, temporarily filled by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine until a special election in 2026. Senator Vance has taken positions on three significant issues: he is pro-life, opposes funding for the Ukraine war, and advocates for immediate attention to the southern border.
There is an element of "tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are" when selecting a VP candidate. The Word tells us that when we walk with the wise, we become wise. Still, a companion of fools suffers harm (Proverbs 13:20). Trump has selected someone who shares similar political values, and we see all over the Bible that when there is a trusted political advisor, there is blessing (Genesis 41:37–57). However, when there is an evil advisor, there is hardship (1 Kings 18:13; Esther 3:1–15). If there is a Trump victory, we pray that Senator Vance will be a trusted advisor offering sound wisdom (Proverbs 15:22).
As this election begins to heat up, let us remember that God is sovereign (Ephesians 1:11; Romans 8:28) and that He uses government as both blessings for the people and judgment on them (Ezra 1:2–4; Isaiah 10:5–19). Let's pray for our government as the election continues to unfold, that we might not put our trust in a king, but in Him who is a rock and a redeemer, and who will ultimately set up the perfect government (1 Samuel 8:18; Psalm 19:14b; Revelation 20:4–6).

AI in the Department of Energy
President Biden's Investing in America agenda led the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to announce actions supporting the Executive Order on AI's safe and trustworthy development. DOE released reports on AI's potential to boost America's clean energy economy and launched a new website showcasing AI tools for science. These initiatives aim to advance AI safety, promote innovation, and support clean energy solutions, strengthening America's leadership in science and technology. Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm emphasized AI's role in addressing major challenges, including climate change and medical advancements, while ensuring reliable and clean energy.
We are called to be stewards of this world (Genesis 2:15). We are called to steward the physical elements of the world (Genesis 1:28), our bodies (1 Corinthians 6:19-20), our own work (1 Peter 4:10), our money (1 Timothy 6:17-19), and the future through the innovation of technology (Ephesians 5:15-17) and the discipleship of the next generation (Proverbs 22:6, Psalm 145:4). As technology advances, it is the responsibility of the remnant to remain apprised of how to best steward its creations and developments. AI continues to become the focus of industry and governments, and we would be wise to seek to be as shrewd as serpents when it comes to its applications and certainly our government's proposals (Matthew 10:16). Yet another reason to be and elect worthy leaders.
