Win for Christian Employers Alliance

A federal district court ruled in favor of religious employers, preventing the Biden administration from enforcing mandates that would require them to violate their religious beliefs by paying for and performing gender transition procedures. The court found that the Christian Employers Alliance's religious beliefs were substantially burdened by the monetary penalties they faced for refusing to violate their convictions. The lawsuit, brought by Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys, challenged the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's interpretation of discrimination based on sex and the Department of Health and Human Services' inclusion of gender identity, protecting the religious freedom of employers and healthcare providers.

It is a good thing when individuals stand firm on their beliefs irrespective of cultural and societal pressures (1 Corinthians 15:58). As the English statesman Edmund Burke is credited with saying, "All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." Similarly, when those individuals own and operate businesses, it is a good thing when they maintain those convictions irrespective of economic consequences or political pressure (Colossians 3:23, 1 John 2:15-16). The "work of the church is the church at work," and for far too long, far too many professing believers have somehow convinced themselves that their 'Sunday convictions' don't apply to their Monday through Friday world. God's people know there is no spiritual and secular divide (Psalm 24:1). The Lord demands worship and obedience on weekdays every bit as much as he does on "the Lord's day," 'for if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord, therefore whether we live or die, we are the Lord's (Romans 14:8). Even as our friends at Hobby Lobby stood firm in 2014 when the Obama administration tried to make them pay for abortifacients against their will, it is good that the members of the Christian Employers Alliance stood up to the Biden administration's efforts to make them pay for so-called "gender transition" procedures. The Green family's courage in 2014 in Burrell v. Hobby Lobby paved the way for this ruling. Courage in one man often stiffens the spines of others, and it is great to see this alliance of Christian Employers honoring their King by standing up to the madness that is the current LGTBQ+ agenda (Ezekiel 33:20). One day the insanity of this movement will be evident to all, but until then, we need courageous individuals and business leaders to stand firm, speak the Truth and lovingly say no to "participating in the unfruitful deeds of darkness" (Ephesians 5:11) embraced by our increasingly confused world who gives "hearty approval to those who practice" self-destruction (Romans 1:32). When Christians take as much pride in standing for righteousness as the LBTBQ+ community does in mocking it, we will begin to see healing once again return to our land (2 Chronicles 7:14).

Jailbreak in Haiti

Haiti declared a 72-hour state of emergency following a prison break where armed gangs killed at least 12 people and allowed 3,700 inmates to escape. Gang leaders are demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Ariel Henry, whose location remains unknown after traveling to Kenya, as gang violence continues to grip the nation's capital, Port-au-Prince, where gangs control around 80% of the area. The situation has led to widespread fear and displacement, with calls for the resignation of the prime minister intensifying amidst the escalating violence and political instability.

Few nations have so proven the truth of William Penn's prophetic warning, "Men must be governed by God, or they will be ruled by tyrants," as much as Haiti.

Creating anarchy and starting a revolution is easy compared to creating stable leadership and governance. The slave revolt, which first gave so many oppressed their freedom, has not made Haiti a place where freedom and peace have flourished. Haiti's plight reflects the biblical truth that "where there is no vision, the people perish" (Proverbs 29:18).

Pray for the Lord to use this time of trouble to bring Haitians to a place of repentance where they leave their history of religious syncretism and decades of corruption and violence to embrace a genuine faith in God and a submission to His Word. The Lord has His people in Haiti, but up to now, there has been an inability to rally around Godly leaders who are able to resist the corruption that comes with power. While America's troubles are different, the reasons for our growing troubles are the same as our island neighbors. Pray for America, Haiti, and the rest of the nations, that men everywhere would come to their senses and believe in word and deed the truth found in the Psalms, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord" (Psalm 33:12).

France Constitutionalizes Abortion

France made history by amending its constitution to guarantee a woman's right to abortion, responding to concerns raised by the rollback of abortion rights in the United States. The overwhelming support for the amendment in both houses of parliament, with a 780-72 vote, reflects the nation's commitment to women's rights. President Emmanuel Macron pledged to protect this right, affirming it as a matter of French pride and a universal message, with the amendment scheduled to be inscribed on International Women's Day amidst widespread approval from the French population and cross-party support.

Prayerfully, the day will soon come when abortion will be remembered as a barbaric display of human ignorance in the same way the African Slave trade is now remembered. We should be concerned that we see any nation-state so thoroughly embrace this kind of genocide without international outrage, and America should be ashamed that it so willingly embraced a false constitutional right to abortion under the guise of "personal privacy" until Roe v. Wade was finally overturned after five decades. Sadly, American states are now clamoring to write laws ensuring the same "right" that France has constituted, proving that overturning bad legal precedent doesn't solve the heart problem that has supported it for so long. Rights were not protected yesterday in France; they were stripped unequivocally from the lives of children conceived in “unwanted” circumstances. What we are seeing played out before our eyes is that there are nations on both sides of the Atlantic with millions of citizens who are willing to ignore the evidence of science and Scripture that life begins at conception.

If Hubert Humphrey was correct in declaring, "The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children; those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped." then nearly every nation on earth continues to prove its wickedness and immorality. The question is, will every nation on earth have a remnant that speaks up for the mute, unfortunate, and oppressed as God intends (Proverbs 31:8-9)?
