TX AG Sues Doctor Over Surgeries, Elon Gives Money Away, US Ship Sails Taiwan Strait
“This life, therefore, is not godliness, but the process of becoming godly, not health but getting well, not being but becoming, not rest but exercise. We are not now what we shall be, but we are on the way.”

TX AG Sues Doctor Over Surgeries
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed a lawsuit against Dallas pediatrician Dr. May C. Lau, accusing her of providing gender transition treatments to minors, violating a 2023 state law. This marks the first enforcement action under the law, which prohibits healthcare professionals from "affirming a child's gender identity if it conflicts with their biological sex. The lawsuit alleges that Dr. Lau administered hormone therapy to 21 minors and falsified medical records. Paxton seeks an injunction and $10,000 per violation. Dr. Lau and UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she works, did not comment. Texas is one of 26 states that have banned gender-transition surgeries for minors since 2021.
Euphemisms often distort reality, as warned in Isaiah 5:20: "Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness." In the case of "gender-affirming care" for minors, this deceptive language hides the grave harm that comes from irreversible procedures like hormone blockers and surgeries on otherwise healthy bodies. These interventions and the doctors who perform them violate the Hippocratic Oath, which instructs doctors to "do no harm." Biblically, we are commanded to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), which involves confronting lies that perpetuate harm, especially towards vulnerable children.
Gender transition, particularly among minors, often stems from confusion, pain, and a search for identity. This distress, however, requires a compassionate response grounded in the healing and wholeness found in Christ rather than harmful medical interventions. Scripture reminds us of the importance of offering life-affirming alternatives. Jesus says that life, abundant life, is found in Him alone (John 10:10); encouraging children to undergo irreversible medical procedures is a tragic deviation from this plan.
The Bible also instructs us to care for the vulnerable (James 1:27) and compels us to protect children from harm. Children should be nurtured and guided, not subjected to medical experiments that can lead to lifelong regret and further emotional trauma. Proverbs 22:6 encourages us to "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it." We have a responsibility to lead children in truth, helping them find their identity in God's design rather than cultural confusion. When we encourage or enable children to transition, we accept practices that promote harm and deception. True healing and wholeness come not through altering the body but through spiritual transformation (Romans 12:2), and the Christian response should always aim to guide people toward this redemptive truth.

Elon Gives Money to Petition Signers
Musk's campaign group, America PAC, offers registered voters in key swing states the chance to win $1 million daily until November 5 if they sign a petition supporting free speech and gun rights. Critics argue this may violate U.S. election laws, prohibiting payments tied to voter registration or voting. Legal experts are divided, with some saying the giveaway exploits a loophole, while others believe it could still be illegal. The Justice Department has received requests to investigate Musk's actions. So far, Musk's website has identified four winners.
God loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:7), and Elon seems to be delighting in writing these extravagantly generous checks. While Elon could certainly use some biblical wisdom in other areas of his life, he seems to have grasped the idea that he won’t be taking his money with him (Psalm 49:17) and is investing it in things he believes in (Matthew 6:21). Though few can give as radically as Elon, we should remember that where our resources are invested, given, saved, or spent says a lot about what we truly value.
Freedom is an explicitly Christian value (John 8:36), and as we vote in these coming days to preserve and promote our freedoms in America, we should reflect deeply on how we seek to promote and preserve freedom in our own lives: from the yoke of sin (Galatians 5:1) and from being “possessed by our possessions” (Ecclesiastes 5:10).

U.S. Ship Sails Taiwan Strait
A U.S. Navy destroyer and a Canadian frigate sailed through the Taiwan Strait in a joint transit on Sunday, a move criticized by China as "disruptive." This passage occurred shortly after China conducted military exercises around Taiwan, a territory it claims as its own. The U.S. Navy emphasized that the transit was routine and consistent with international law, demonstrating their commitment to freedom of navigation in international waters. China, meanwhile, monitored the transit, asserting that the actions of the U.S. and Canada posed a threat to peace and stability in the region.
China is not the first nation that has sought to intimidate another nation by surrounding it with shows of power (Isaiah 36:1-4), but wise men know that military might (Psalm 33:16-17) and previous successes (Isaiah 37:10-13) do not guarantee tomorrow's victories (Isaiah 37:3-4). God loves to humble nations, and His Word constantly admonishes men everywhere to remember that "the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, on those who hope for His lovingkindness, to deliver their soul from death and to keep them alive in famine" (Psalm 33:18-19). This is true for China, Taiwan, the United States, and every other nation on Earth.
What we see as complicated or scary signs of geopolitical conflict is nothing more than the Lord working out His purposes in history (Isaiah 37:26). The God of all nations works His purposes in His time, alternatively humbling one people group and then another, until all men everywhere learn that "He who sits in the heavens laughs..." (Psalm 2:4). No matter how powerful a nation becomes, no matter how impressive its military, no matter how educated and trained its leaders are, "All the nations are as nothing before the Lord, they are regarded by Him as less than nothing and meaningless” (Isaiah 40:17). God is not intimidated by armadas and He is not concerned with threats (Isaiah 37:23), He wants men to be concerned with the coming day of judgment for all nations when "He will speak to them in His anger and terrify them in His fury, saying, "But as for Me, I have installed My King upon Zion, My holy mountain" (Psalm 2:5-6).
Just as Israel should not have put its hope in Egypt centuries ago (Isaiah 31:1), neither Israel nor Taiwan should put its hope in America or other allies today. Every nation is only as secure as the Lord decrees and faithful men do not deceive themselves by putting their trust in anything other than the certainty of God's goodness, protection, and will (Psalm 127:1b).
What is true for nations is true for each of us. Rather than fret about what the leaders of nations will do next, each of us should "return to Him from whom you have deeply defected" (Isaiah 31:6-7), for a day is soon coming when "every man will cast away his silver idols and his gold idols" (Isaiah 31:7). Rather than wait for the day that the Lord reveals His glory in unmistakeable force and causes every knee to bow and every tongue to confess that He is Lord, (Philippians 2:10-11) let us bow before the One who rules the nations today (2 Corinthians 6:2).
