Target Shifts Pride Strategy, Northern Lights in the South

Target Shifts Pride Month Strategy
After facing backlash and lower sales over its Pride Month merchandise in 2023, Target announced a decision to only carry “Pride” merchandise in select stores this coming June. The company, which operates roughly 2,000 stores, will base stocking decisions on "guest insights and consumer research." While the number of stores without Pride merchandise wasn't disclosed, the full assortment will still be available online. Despite reducing in-store merchandise, Target plans to continue supporting LGBTQ+ organizations year-round, as well as internal LGBTQ+ programs.
As believers, we're called to expose darkness and hate pride (Ephesians 5:11, Proverbs 8:13), not compromise for profit. Target's move, no doubt influenced by Christian dissent last summer, showcases the impact of standing firm and "voting with your dollar." While there is certainly Christian freedom in choosing where to spend your money (1 Corinthians 10:23), it is worthwhile to consider where your treasures lie (Matthew 6:21).
Believers know you cannot serve both God and money (Matthew 6:24) and that life is not found in cannot prioritize people-pleasing over serving Christ (Galatians 1:10). The love of money, like people-pleasing, will lead you down unexpected dark paths (1 Timothy 6:10). Long gone are the days of big businesses purely offering their goods or services without political messaging and correctness. Make no mistake, this move does not signal a decision by Target executives to honor Jesus, biblical marriage, or biological reality, but rather a hedging of their bets that they can still promote sin in the "right amount" of locations to strategically avoid backlash (and financial losses), and still cater to the ever-growing PC crowd.
Meanwhile, let's boast in the true source of love and pride—the love of God and the humility found in following His ways (Jeremiah 9:23-24).

Northern Lights in the South
A powerful solar storm has triggered the most intense geomagnetic storm in Earth's atmosphere since 2003, potentially causing auroras visible as far south as Florida and Southern California. The storm, caused by a cluster of sunspots, could also lead to blackouts and disruptions to communication and navigation systems. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a rare storm watch, later upgraded to a warning, as the effects could continue through Monday. The storm's impact on infrastructure like power grids and radio communications is a concern, though effects on personal devices like cell phones are unlikely. This event, part of the sun's 11-year activity cycle, is being closely monitored, with further solar activity expected.
The recent (super)natural phenomena are a breathtaking display of God's power and artistry. They echo the Psalmist's proclamation: "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1). These wonders vividly illustrate His divine intention and dominion over all creation (Isaiah 45:12).
All things were created through Him, and for Him, and in Him, all things hold together (Colossians 1:16-17). In fact, God's invisible attributes, eternal power, and divine nature are clearly seen in His handiwork (Romans 1:20).
Holy, holy, holy is He (Isaiah 6:3). And great is our Lord for giving all forms of beauty their substance (Psalm 8:3-4). May those who are far from Him consider the Creator behind the creation, be illumined in their hearts, and come to a saving knowledge of Christ as a result of these events (Ephesians 1:18).

Johnson Ouster Editorial Note
Above everything at The Remnant News, we want to prioritize what the Word says over what the world says, what we think, and especially what we perceive. Our writing team makes every effort to analyze and respond to headlines from a truly biblical - Bible first and most - perspective (2 Timothy 3:16-17). On Friday, we “responded” to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s attempt to oust Speaker Johnson in a way that some readers believed assumed too much of her motives or even Speaker Johnson’s worthiness of being removed.
At the highest level, MTG’s attempts to oust Speaker Johnson were, in fact, quarrelsome in the sense that they created “conflict,”… but, by that definition, a lot of what happens in the Capitol building is also quarrelsome, and candidly, a lot of it is foolish. However, we want to loudly acknowledge that there are times when “quarreling” that is, fighting for what is right, regardless of popularity or convenience, is absolutely essential (Isaiah 6:8-9, Ezekiel 22:30, Ezekiel 2:6-7, Jeremiah 20:9). Though many are doubtless tired of the potential for another speakers seat being vacated, time will tell if wisdom prevailed in the vote or if Representative Greene and her supporters were correct.
We always invite your gracious feedback and encouragement at [email protected]. Thank you for thoughtfully reading, sharing, and “quarreling” with us when we may miss the mark.
